SIBL started out as a summer tournament for Therapeutic Communities and Outpatient Programs in Bronx New York in 2014. There were 6 teams from the most acclaimed programs, that assist individual with finding a better way of living without the use of drugs and alcohol and improve their quality of life.
In the summer of 2017 I have decided to add SIBL YOUTH to enhance the same qualities and positive atmosphere for Connecticut’s Fairfield Counties youth and beyond. Summer of 2020 SIBL youth CT team of 15 Shelton CT youth played in NYC tournaments Each One teach One and Hoops By the River
SIBL will provide fundamental basketball lessons for YOUTH provide educational learning experiences they can utilize in their daily lives to enjoy activities outside of their DAILY ROUTINE, They will learn and apply skills to socialize without the use of violence, profanity, and any illicit substances. It will also give them an opportunity to learn comradery, bond, and grow relationships among themselves outside of their daily routines, with their peers and work together to become brothers and competitors.
SIBL will also educate them of the dangers of illegal activities, substance abuse, and the consequences that come with it. SIBL expresses the importance of being a student first and athlete second. SIBL feels that education is the key to a bright future if Basketball does not happen. SIBL will have guest speakers , former NBA players to provide clinics, and current recovering individuals to assist with spreading the knowledge of addiction and the difficulties that come with it.
